Creating art work

Over the Christmas break I have been in a creative mood.

I painted over a previous canvas with a new abstract design using blues and whites.

I used the left over paint from the bedroom wall from Laura Ashley.

Adding some gold leaf gave the canvas a real lift.

The new art work is now in pride of place over the bed.

Add some drama with paint

Sometimes a white bedroom can seem a little plain, adding a colour on one wall

as a feature will add some drama if using a darker colour.

This dark moody blue works great with white and greys and is from the 

Laura Ashely paint range.

It is called Midnight Seaspray and is on offer at the moment which is a 

real bonus!

Bedroom update

I love velvet at this time of year.

I've updated the white bedroom with grey stripe bed

linen and velvet cushions and throw.

These gorgeous blue cushions are from H & M.

The pink blush cushion is from Cox and Cox.

A perfect place to snuggle up in to read when the

weather turns cold outside.

Get your colour on!

Have you been afraid of using colour before?

Different colours can make a room feel warm or cold, big or small.

With Autumn approaching if you are decorating try some dark/navy blue.

This will help create a fantastic cosy and dramatic interior - perfect for Christmas.

Add a splash of colour with a complimentary colour will add

interest if you find blue on its own too dark.

The fuchsia pink in this lounge brightens the room.

Denim Drift named as Dulux's Colour of the Year 2017

'Blue is the colour of life, of everyday life. It is familiar yet it is new.'

Experts at the leading paint brand have developed the annual forecast based on emerging trends that shape the way people live, and they've chosen blue as the defining hue for next year, under the theme 'Life in a new light'.

Denim Drift is a versatile and neutral palette that allows different textures and materials to take centre stage.

To complement the Colour of the Year, Dulux have developed a family tonal colour palette featuring a spectrum of blue tones. While the rich and sophisticated shades will bring your walls to life and exude energy, the lighter tones will be cool and calming with a crisp and airy feel.
