Colour inspiration
Have you seen a particular room you love in a magazine
or online?
You can achieve a very similar look yourself by picking the
colours you love from the image.
This kitchen has quite neutral colours but the deep pink makes
the colours pop.
You could add the pink in a scheme with the accessories as above, also around
the dining table, with curtains, blinds, cushions, rugs.
Because the colour isn't on anything permanent you can change the hero
colour for the seasons.

Show home styling
I recently visited this show home and had to share the lounge images.
Most of the room is neutral, the walls, flooring and large pieces of furniture.
The colour has been added in accessories, the footstool and curtains.
By decorating this way in your own home it is so easy to update
colours and accessories for different seasons at a low cost.
To get this room ready for Autumn you may want to choose darker greens and
pinks/purples for the cushions and add a couple of cosy throws.

Accessories can make or break a room.

I want one!
It's perfect for a child's room or study and is great
for industrial styling.

Bedroom inspiration
Green has become very popular this year in the home.
I first saw green being introduced into fashion last year
in Paris and it has since been filtered through
into interiors.
You don't need to add green everywhere into a scheme.
For instance, in the bedroom you can add a little
colour with accessories - cushions, throws, headboards
without going over the top.
These pieces are also easy to change when you
want to freshen up your scheme with another colour.

Traditional or contemporary?
I love this old traditional door and surround.
But what would you expect to see inside?
Traditional or contemporary style?
Traditional style is perfect for this sort of building but
don't let that put you off mixing up styles.
Traditional and modern can sit very comfortably together.
You don't need to go the whole way on either style throughout the house.
Touches of modern/contemporary style can be added in
all rooms of a traditional house.
It can also make an older home more comfortable using modern
accessories especially in the bathroom and kitchen.

Kitchen inspiration
I came across some great show homes at the weekend.
I love these kitchen designs.
The kitchen was galley style but the units at
different heights and widths made the whole kitchen
feel very designer.
Two tone cupboard doors also looked great
in a small space without over powering the room.

Autumn colour inspiration
I'm building up my inspiration board this week with Autumn in mind.
Golds, mustards, greens and grey all look great together.
I love different textures and have included silk and velvet fabrics.
William Morris has so many different prints but I love the colour
of this pattern Acanthus wallpaper.

Get your lights out!
Got some fairy lights?
Now the evenings are drawing in use your fairy lights
creatively!
Add sets of lights inside lanterns which you can bring in from
the garden.
Perfect for standing near the fire place.
On cupboards and sideboards use bell jars with
your fairy lights in for a pretty glow.

Autumn is around the corner - get cosy!
September is here again!
If you are looking to update your home for Autumn/Winter the
perfect way to do this is a nod to Scandinavian style.
Even though this style is based around white which can seem cold,
it can easily be warmed with with natural materials.
Wood, wool, faux fur are just a couple of things
you can include in your home to make it cosier for the
cooler weather which is on the way.
Layering textures on your sofa is a great way, open up
a throw and spread out on the sofa with cushions on top
of this.
In the kitchen add some natural wood by displaying wooden
chopping boards utensils.
Layer up your bed to create the perfect environment for relaxing
and sleep.
